LET'S RACE!  THE SUMMER STINGRAY MEETS!

All swim meets are on Saturday mornings, with a 8 am warm-up time, and a 8:30 am start time.  There is no practice on the Thursday prior to a swim meet.

2025 Summer Stingray events will be posted before June 1, 2025; these meets will typically be held on Saturday mornings, and last between 1 and 2 hours.

How do the swim meets work?

All swimmers need to be at the pool, ready to get in for warm-up, at least 30 minutes prior to the meet’s scheduled start time. The kids can swim any events that they wish, but their coaches will help them to choose the most appropriate events. Typically there are 25 yard events of each stroke for the 10 and unders, and 50 yard events for the 11 and older swimmers. There are ribbons for all competitors, and the kids swim against kids in their same age and gender groups.  Here are the age divisions:

6 and Under
7-8
9-10
11-12
13 and Over

Meets last about two hours on average.  These Stingray meets are largely "intrasquad" meets, due to the size of our team, but will will sometimes host another team.

What can parents do to help?

In order for the meets to run smoothly, we need to have:

* 8 parents, 1 per lane, to hand out ribbons and time each event (this is the greatest job ever; you push a button as a backup time when the child in your lane finishes, and then you hand a happy child a ribbon!).
